Integrating Plogger into WordPress

My PloggerPress plugin has been quite a popular download for WordPress users looking to incorporate an image gallery into their blog. However, to integrate the whole of Plogger into your blog’s theme as I have done (GALLERY) is not all that straightforward. Until recently David Perality’s instructions on the subject covered this. So due to popular demand and the mysterious disappearance of David’s original post, here is my guide to this piece of blog trickery…

Reasons to choose WordPress for your church web site

I came across Cory Miller‘s post about why WordPress is so perfect for church web sites. These are very good reasons for choosing the tool, but they are what I would class as technical reasons. I’d like to suggest some other reasons.

White Oak UMC – Content is king!

Tony Burgess e-mailed me about his church’s new site, currently hosted at wordpress.com. This has to be one of the best examples of a WordPress-driven church web site, I’ve seen.

It isn’t a fancy web site that will attract people to the gospel; its a living, breathing Christ-centred community.

It shows a church that is alive and presents clear up-to date information about the church and its life. One of the clear advantages of using WordPress (or similar tools) is that it can create a sense of community and activity with very little effort. By simply regularly posting what is happening in the church community, you create a window into your church that shows a vibrant and attractive community. White Oak have achieved this with their site.

A bit of a reboot

I thought it was time for a new theme for this blog. I’m still ironing out the wrinkles, so mind how you go!

DELTA – A church WordPress theme

Its been a while since I managed another theme. This one is designed with churches in mind and is the result of having helped a couple of churches online with WordPress. WordPress really is much more than a blogging tool. This theme is the next step along the WP-driven church evolution. I may even finally get round to using this on my own church site which to my shame still isn’t yet WP-driven.

SHINE website goes live

shineSHINE is an organisation that aims to resource the local churches in St Helens. One of my latest projects has been to move their website over to use WordPress. A by-product of this is a cool google maps plugin I have put together to provide a drill down interactive map of all churches in the St Helens borough.

Each church is located by assigning GPS coordinates to each church page in WordPress.

The site is using my LivingOS PSI theme. You can check it out here.

More WordPress churches

Continuing the campaign to see churches get online the easy way – with WordPress. Here a few more churches using WordPress:

I’d love to hear from anybody using WordPress to run their church website.

A Reboot!- With another WordPress Theme

I wasn’t entirely happy with the BETA theme so, here is another attempt at a WordPress theme that is more readable. I hope you won’t be too dissapointed, but I won’t be releasing this one just yet. The problem with releasing your designs for free is that they get everywhere. Which means your own site is no longer unqiue! So for now LivingOS – CHI will be staying put…

More WordPress driven Churches

A while back I highlighted a number of churches that are using WordPress and some of the reasons why WordPress is ideal for such applications. I have also developed a few themes some of which are designed specifically with churches in mind (this is an ongoing project). I’ve been amazed at how many people are using my themes. There is even a cathedral on the list!
So here are a few more churches that have picked up these themes and made their presence felt on the web.

Keeping it simple with another Theme

No fuss, no sidebar – just a simple one-column theme. Probably best suited to a personal blog or news site.
